The Cottage Herbery was established in 1976 and grows Herbs, Aromatics, Scented foliage, Native plants, Cottage garden favourites & unusual edibles. From the very birth of The Cottage Herbery every plant has been grown organically and peat-free.
The ethos of the Cottage Herbery is that if you are producing plants for natural flavouring, healing and fragrance then that plant should be produced naturally.
The Herbery carries the Soil Association Symbol to produce organic plants in pots. Yes we did word that correctly, the peat-free compost we use is approved and carries it’s own symbol as the only coir based compost to be truly organic, its trade name is ‘Fertile Fibre’ (visit the website for more details www.fertilefibre.co.uk).
We are the first nursery to achieve this and by the book too! The Cottage Herbery has won numerous awards throughout its career including the most coveted award a Chelsea Gold Medal. We have a keen interest in certain plant families and have private collections of Angelica, Digitalis, Lobelia, Monarda, Rosmarinus and Tropaeleum.
