This famous and historic pub and brewery in Shropshire has been the ‘beating heart’ of Bishop’s Castle since 1642.
Refurbished and enlarged, it still maintains the spirit of the original pub and is a welcome relief from so many of today’s modern ‘theme pubs’ as it still retains a public bar, snug bar and lounge bar with the addition of a classy oakframed, glass-sided dining room.
The pub has a bustling, lively atmosphere created by the many charismatic locals who regard ‘The Tuns’ as their home from home; it serves a wondrous array of real ales from the adjoining brewery (XXX, 1642, Cleric’s Cure, Stout, Solstice, plus seasonal offerings.) It is unique in these days of super cooled lagers, in that 70% of all beer sales are real ales.
Food is now a serious part of the business with a modern eclectic menu using locally sourced, fresh ingredients from many award winning suppliers. Our lunch and evening menus are available daily with children also welcome.
